After all, I've been a very good girl...

Good Morning Y'all.  I hope you had a fantastic Thanksgiving!  It was wonderful to have a few days off and enjoy time with the kids.  Of course, the food was amazing too.  We won't talk about the football.  #stillbitter

Tis the season for Gift Guides.  Everyone does it, and this year I figured I would too.  Today I'm sharing my Christmas Lust list.  But before we get to it, let's keep it real, m'kay?  My real Christmas list was more like socks, flannel pajamas, etc.  This list is all about the things I lust for.  Wanna see?

1.  Pagoda Dining Chairs.  What can I say?  A pagoda gets me every time.

2.  Hermes Avalon Blanket.  Yes, I know they are kind of a snobby thing and $1300 is a lot of money for a blanket that would quickly be covered in dog hair.  But Lust List, remember?

3.  Bevolo Governor Gas Lanterns.  I'd like a pair.  Please and Thank You.

4.  Brass Cantilever Chairs.  Because a girl can never have too much Brass.  Or too many chairs.

5.  Louis Vuitton Neverfull.  Chic.  Iconic.  Perfection.

6.  Diamond Stud Earrings.  My favorite earrings to wear.  Ever.  Period.  And I have none.  *very sad first world problem*

7.  Hermes Clic H Bracelet.  In black, of course.  Black and gold.  I'd never take that baby off.

8.  iPad.  Because I'm tired of having to borrow my teenage daughter's laptop to get online.  Like Duh.

*Sigh*

As the ever-wise Kit DeLuca once said, "You gotta have a goal.  Do you have a goal?"  I guess this list shall be mine.  Hope you're having a good one.

I am SO honored!

I don't even know what to say.  I am absolutely speechless, which we all know is RARE.  House Beautiful has run a #ColorAtHome campaign on Instagram where they asked people to share how they decorate with color in their homes.  They selected their favorite five and posted them on their websiteAND THEY CHOSE ME

Go and check it out.  Also, be sure to follow me and House Beautiful on Instagram @houseofpemberley and @housebeautiful .

Have a GREAT weekend.

This blog is going to the toilet

No, really, we are going to discuss toilets today.  Really scraping the bottom of the barrel here, right?

A few weeks ago I noticed that the lid to my toilet/potty/whatever was loose, then became looser, and eventually broke completely.  I lived with it for a long while and finally decided to fix it.  And what a great time to upgrade, right?  I’ve always loved the look of black seats, so that is what I went with.

The whole point of this is to tell you that it is EASY PEASY to change out a toilet seat, so there is no reason to wait for a husband/significant other/dad to do it for you.  Because, let's be honest, they never get it.  If you want something new, Get it, Girl!  Unless it is the acrylic toilet seat I saw at Lowe’s that had money embedded in it.  WTF, why???

Begin by removing the existing seat.  Wait, back up.  Begin by cleaning the heck out of the toilet.  Then move on to removing the seat.

Lift up the back caps that attach the seat to the bowl.  When you open them you will see there is a plastic bolt.  Reach under the bowl where the screw is and you will feel a nut.  Hold the nut and unscrew the bolt.  Do this on the other side and remove the seat.  Now you’ll want to clean all the stuff you missed.  #gross

Open your new seat and hardware that is included with it.  You will have two rubber flat pieces, two bolts and two nuts.

The rubber flat pieces go on the bottom of the piece that attaches to the bowl.  This keeps it from moving around.  Put them in each side with the flat side facing out.

Lift the top of the tabs at the back of the seat.

Remove the nut from the plastic bolt.

Make sure that the holes in the tab and the holes in the bowl line up.  Also, make sure that the front of the seat is flush with the front of the bowl.

Place the bolt through the hole on each side.  Check alignment again.

Reach to the underside and attach the nut.  Hand tighten until it will no longer turn and then use a screwdriver to finish.

Close the tabs, sit back and enjoy.

Now, I just need to find an awesome brass flusher handle (technical term).

One Room Challenge - Week Six

Hello and welcome to Week Six of the One Room Challenge.  You know what that means?  Today is reveal day!  If you're new here, the One Room Challenge is the baby of Linda from Calling it Home.  She gives 20 bloggers six weeks to completely makeover a room in their homes.  You should definitely check out the amazing transformations from the ORC. This year, Linda decided to hold a linking party for those of us that want to play along.  To catch up on my room, you can read about week one, week two, week three, week four and week five.

I am so excited and not a little nervous to share with you my new master bedroom.

Do you like it?  I certainly hope so!  In all honesty, I have been hinting at a huge DIY for the space that did not get completed due to shipping errors (three (!?!) times).  As soon as it is done I will be sure to show you updated shots.

The ORC was a wonderful experience and I hope to participate again.  Thank you so much to Linda for hosting and rallying each week.  Thank you to Jennifer from The Pink Pagoda for the awesome ORC button.  And mostly, thank you to each of you for coming each week to check in.  Be sure to go and visit the other linking bloggers.  You won't be disappointed!

If you are interested in sources, leave me a comment and I'll be sure to post them soon.

xoxo,
Kimber
