Spring One Room Challenge - The Reveal

Hello and welcome to the reveal of the 2018 Spring One Room Challenge.  Before I get to the photos, which I know is what you really want to see, I'd like to again say thank you to Linda Weinstein for hosting this awesome event.

In order to truly understand the dramatic change that took place in this space, I think it is important to know where we started in this journey.  You can read about the previous weeks here - Week One, Week Two, Week Three, Week Four, and Week Five.

New Bamboo Flooring from Lumber Liquidators

Black ceiling and trim with a silver "faux finish" which, according to Mama, is definitely NOT sponge paint (she has standards after all) even though it was applied with a sponge many years ago

We wanted to create a bright and airy TV room and I think that we accomplished just that.

We added a board and batten treatment around the room with grasscloth on the ceiling.  Drapery and pillows were made by me and Mama.  Chairs, stools, and skirted table upholstered by me.

Spring One Room Challenge - Week Five

Hello and welcome to Week Five of the Spring 2018 One Room Challenge.  If you're unfamiliar with the ORC, it is an event spearheaded by Linda from Calling it Home where 20 Featured Designers and hundreds of Guest Participants, like myself, attempt to completely redo a room in six weeks.

For this ORC, my fifth, I am attempting to turn my parents' dark bonus room from a man-cave into a light and airy TV room.  What's new the final week before the reveal?  Paint, wallpaper, paint, upholstery, paint.  In fact, we still are not done painting. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, but don't think that means we will have a reprieve, because then starts sewing.

Our "helpers" are never far behind

Sneak peek of the wallcovering

While the paint has been drying, we have also been busy reupholstering a few pieces for the room.

I think we should have a Where's Waldo type game on my blog called "Spot the Dog".  Sheesh.  Anywhoo, the upholstery turned out pretty great, if I do say so myself.

We still have a lot to do, including:
  • Sew the curtains and pillows
  • Hang the curtain rod
  • Pimp out the glass for the TV table
  • Install door hardware
  • Install lighting
  • Move furniture out (bye, bye ugly recliner)
  • Move furniture in (hello, leopard beauty)
  • Clean
  • Style for photographs Sunday
The best part?  We have three days.  Oh, I guess it would be good for us to finish painting too.  Looks like we will be having cereal for supper.  See you next week for the reveal!
