Hello and welcome! If you are new here, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Kimber and I am a Southern girl that lives in Alabama (Roll Tide!). Last year my world was turned upside down and I was given a big ol' bag of lemons. So I decided to make lemonade. This blog is where I share updates to our home affectionately known as #ProjectLemonade, client work, fabulous finds, and
Why six weeks, you ask? I will be participating each Thursday in the One Room Challenge Linking Party. Unfamiliar with the ORC? Linda, from Calling It Home fame, challenges 20 bloggers to re-do one room in six weeks and report progress each Wednesday. Be sure to check out the line-up this time. It is going to be amazing.
Linda also hosts a party for those of us that want to play along from home on Thursdays. Last ORC I did my bedroom...you can see it here.
This time I decided to tackle my laundry room and hallway. Brace yourselves for some truly horrific before pictures.
Hoarder much??? |
Yes, I started painting my office two days before the start of the ORC. #masochist |
Garage door with peeling paint...nice |
So here's my plan of attack:
- Rip out the closet in the laundry room because it is truly a waste of space
- Build a long table where I can
throwfold clothes - Add wainscoting
- New flooring in the laundry room
- Organize & clean
- Hooks for backpacks & other kid stuff in the hallway
- Ditch the boob light (and throat punch the inventor of them)
- And another eleventy billion other things I'm certainly forgetting (including doing the laundry you see piled up everywhere)
Looks fun, right? And totally do-able in six weeks? Be sure to check out the other linking participants and give them some love. And maybe some wine. Yes, definitely some wine.
I am also linking up to the ORC, but tackling the living room this time! Looking forward to following your laundry room re-do as that is the next room on my list!
ReplyDeleteGet it gurl! Gonna be awesome. Love ya, mean it!
ReplyDeleteI really can't wait to see this! I love following you and what you do ;-) Rock on!
ReplyDeleteI think I "ooohhhhed" out loud at your plan picture there. So great. The light and the washer/dryer are already fab so you're staring with great bones! And your fabric stash?! Funny, I didn't see hoarder, I was sort of jealous :) Amazing.
ReplyDeleteHi Kimber, your plan is crazy good. You always make me feel like an underachiever. Good luck with this and thanks for joining.
ReplyDeleteI considered doing my laundry room but I am glad to watch you do yours and then use you for inspiration. :)
ReplyDeleteGo Kimber, no doubt you can turn that space around, can't wait to follow along!
ReplyDeleteThis is going to look great! Love all the colors...will even make doing laundry cheerful! Good luck! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm super jealous of your laundry space - it has some great bones! And the jealousy is sure to get worse because your plan for it looks fabulous - looking forward to seeing you work some magic on it!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you do! And, please document the throat-punching of the boob light inventor...you are too funny!
ReplyDeleteTotally doable...you've handled much bigger projects than this in life :) Can't wait to see your plans evolve!
ReplyDeleteOh good! I need to do my laundry room next and I'll let you do all the handwork and I'll just go with it!! War Eagle. You know I had to say it!!
ReplyDeleteDitto on Traci's request to document the throat punching. You are hilarious. I'll be following for sure. My hall/laundry could use the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be awesome!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I'm drooling over all that fabulous fabric in your stash! Second, I know it's going to be awesome!!! Can't wait to see it all!!!

Laughed my way through this whole post! Love your humor. You are superwoman for taking on all these projects. Good luck! It'll be so awesome when it's finished!
ReplyDeleteI pretty sure that the fabulous runner in the hallway is already making me jealous! So is your laundry room chandelier! Can't wait to see you transform it over the next six weeks!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to following your room again this time. I don't worry...we all have THOSE before pictures. It will just make the finished project that much better!
ReplyDeletelove an honest picture of someone's "real life" space! Can't wait to see your progress! xoxo from SproutzDesign
ReplyDeleteI almost chose my laundry room too. Can't wait to see your end result. It looks like it will be be a fun, cheery room. And thank you for posting your true before pics, I'm happy I'm not alone.
ReplyDeleteI love a good laundry room re-design and I know this one will be killer!
ReplyDeleteCan we just talk about the fabric stash? I adore your colorful aesthetic and I'm sure you'll pull it off flawlessly, Kimber!!!

I agree with Kimberly Lemmon- let's talk about that fabric... I thought I had a lot of fabric! At least yours is organized. Can't wait to see your room. Looks super fun!
ReplyDeleteOoh fun, i love your inspiration board! And the horrid boob lights, seriously, they do need to just go away. Of course the men who are the builders love to put them in houses that they build, they are cheap and of course resemble breasts.
ReplyDeleteI am jealous of your laundry room, and I love the plans. Not the boob light though. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is great! Thanks for the fun post! Your before's are nowhere near as horrific as mine, so fear not! And I'm learning so much from you ladies! YAAY! This is gonna be fun! (Ok.. Running to update my link up post, I'm missing stuff! Lol

Wine, cursing , and music. Yep, you sound like my kinda gal. I love what you're planning. Can't wait to see it all come together:)
ReplyDeleteHi Kimber! Can't wait to see your finished laundry room. Love your inspiration board!
ReplyDeleteLOVE you're doing a laundry room, ours is just missing accessories and I have to confess I hide in there for sanity purposes- love our laundry room, looking forward to see what you do!!!
ReplyDeleteMy laundry room looks worse. Secretly I think I did not want to do it because I didn't want to share the before:) But I have full faith in your abilities to do this room!
ReplyDeleteEverything you touch is magic...can't wait to see this laundry room come to life:)
ReplyDeleteIf only I had a laundry room and NOT laundry closet! Can't wait to see your finished room from ORC gal to another!
ReplyDeleteI think you are leaning the right way sister, because I'm liking your plan. You are killing me by showing all of those fabrics btw. And glad to know I'm not the only one who started another project days before the ORC started.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if I'm more envious of your laundry plan or that stash of fabric!!!
